Mixed Reaction To The Goverment's Rent-A-Room Scheme

Published 3 weeks, 2 days ago
Description
There's been mixed reaction to the government's proposal to extend the rent-a-room scheme to modular buildings. Under the proposals, people could get up to 14 thousand euro a year tax-free for building a modular home in their back garden for rent. Opposition parties have criticised the proposal - calling the units "beds in sheds". To explore this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Diarmuid McMahon, auctioneer, Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon in Ennis and Douglas Hurley, Managing Director of DNG O'Sullivan Hurley in Ennis.
