Ep. 304 - Christian Science
Description
This week Scott, solo, discusses the religious movement known as Christian Science, founded by Mary Baker Eddy in Massachusetts in the late 19th century as American Protestantism found itself in an identity crisis. Incorporating concepts from her heritage as a Congregationalist and incorporating aspects of Transcendentalism, Gnosticism, Swedenborg and the burgeoning "Mind-Cure" movement, her "discovery" of Christian Science endures to this day.
