RM Breakfast Show – St Patrick and the Synod – Fr Billy Swan

Published 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Description

Fr. Billy Swan presents the Breakfast Show from Rome, where he spent St Patrick’s Day this year. In the first half he offers a rich meditation on the gospel of the man born blind, the fourth Sunday of Lent reading, exploring how faith in Christ gives us sight to see reality as it truly is — ourselves, God, each other and the world — and how holiness and baptism are the lenses through which that vision becomes clear. In the second half he reflects on St Patrick’s life through the lens of the three pillars of the synodal path — communion, participation and mission — and looks ahead to two approaching centenaries: the 1,600th anniversary of Patrick’s arrival in Ireland in 2032, and the 2,000th anniversary of Christ’s death and resurrection in 2033, and why the Irish church should begin preparing for both now.
