Generations Toronto Campus: A New Multi-Generational Housing Spot

A new affordable housing project, Generations Toronto Campus, has opened in Torontos North York neighborhood. Built for multi-generational families, it was inaugurated by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Mayor Olivia Chow, and His Highness the Aga Khan. The sixty-acre site at Don Mills Road and Wynford Drive offers homes, care, and community spaces.

The project, led by the Ismaili community, aims to address senior isolation and housing shortages with affordable rentals, health services, child care, and a long-term care home funded by the province. Mayor Chow praised it as a game-changer for inclusive living, serving the Ismaili community while boosting the entire area.

The setup includes a twenty-seven-storey building with a care home on two floors and shared spaces. Nearly four hundred new homes, retail spots, and more are planned, with residents moving in later this spring and care staff in early summer. Toronto contributed over seventeen million dollars in incentives, partnering with federal and provincial entities. This project could serve as a blueprint for similar initiatives nationwide.
