Becoming an Entrepreneur After You Start - Brittany & Michael Martin's Journey - Episode 63

Description
Starting a business is hard. Starting one with your spouse means there’s no separation between work and life—and no place to hide when things get difficult.

Today’s episode is a great example of something I talk about often on this show, how entrepreneurship doesn’t always start with a clear plan. Sometimes, it starts with action, commitment, and figuring things out as you go.

My guests today are Brittany and Michael Martin. If you’re in the Electronics manufacturing industry, you may already know Brittany professionally. She’s the Digital Marketing Manager at I-Connect007, a publisher of trade magazines in the electronics manufacturing industry that I have work closely with in the past. Outside of her role at I-Connect007, Brittany and her husband, Michael, are the owners of Anchorfish Printing.

Over the past two decades, they’ve built Anchor Fish Printing from the ground up, navigating not only the challenges of business ownership, but also what it means to build and run a company together as spouses.

In this episode, we’re going to focus primarily on their entrepreneurial journey, how the business started, the unexpected challenges they faced along the way, and how ownership changes the way you think about work, risk, and responsibility.

We’ll also spend some time talking with Brittany about how storytelling and branding play a role inside a small business, especially when you’re marketing something you personally own and stand behind.

This conversation isn’t about shortcuts or overnight success. It’s about learning in real time, making decisions without a playbook, and becoming an entrepreneur after you start.
