129. Ikana: Jake Davis Talks Pop Punk, San Diego, California Burritos and...Creed? | Emo Kids Anonymous
Description
Welcome to EKA129! Today we are joined by Jake Davis from the San Diego band Ikana! When I interviewed Jake, he was one day removed from playing a show with Jake Langley of Handguns (this was before Handguns pt 2 ) so we had lots to talk about. Ikana have been laying claim to the term Southwest Emo and in this wide ranging conversation Jake Davis makes a strong case for Ikana to be considered THE southwest emo band. We talk his norcal origins, the state of the San Diego scene today vs. when I was involved many moons ago, as well as our favorite local spots for shows and burritos. Also, we talk about Creed more than you'd think?
Either way, Jake was a treat and Ikana are grinding away and I'm excited to see where the rest of 2026 takes them as they navigate writing, recording and releasing music as well as touring. Oh yeah, they do all this in house as well. True DIY spirit. Go listen to Ikana on your preferred streaming service and follow them on social media! @ikanaband
