Glasgow Police Massacre: A Former Officer's Revenge

Published 5 days, 12 hours ago
Description

On December 30, 1969, a former Glasgow police officer, Howard Wilson, shot and killed two colleagues and injured three others during a confrontation at his flat. Wilson, who had quit the force to run a greengrocers shop, was driven by money troubles to rob banks with two friends. After a bank robbery in Linwood, an inspector recognized Wilson and called for backup, leading to a deadly exchange. Wilson received a life sentence, while his accomplices got twelve years each. The brave survivors were honored with George Medals, and the Scottish Police Museum displays Wilsons gun alongside a medal of one of the fallen officers, preserving the memory of this dark chapter.
