Cyclone Narelle intensifies to category 4 system
Published 3 weeks, 6 days ago
Description
Tropical Cyclone Narelle has been upgraded to a severe Category 4 system and is bearing down on Western Australia's coast, with wind gusts reaching 150 kilometres per hour and potential intensification to Category 5. Exmouth is bracing for gusts up to 250 kilometres per hour as residents evacuate or prepare emergency measures, with the cyclone expected to make landfall near Carnarvon. If it impacts three states, Narelle will be the first cyclone to do so since Cyclone Ingrid in 2005.
