Ro: Într-o dimineață de primăvară, soarele pătrundea vesel prin ferestrele înalte ale laboratorului de chimie al liceului.
En: On a spring morning, the sun cheerily streamed through the tall windows of the high school chemistry lab.
Ro: Aerul era proaspăt, iar lumina dansa pe mesele pline de eprubete și sticluțe cu tot felul de substanțe.
En: The air was fresh, and the light danced on tables full of test tubes and bottles with all sorts of substances.
Ro: Mirosul de amoniac amestecat cu praf de cretă plutea ușor în spațiu.
En: The smell of ammonia mixed with chalk dust floated lightly in the space.
Ro: Andrei stătea aplecat asupra mesei sale, cu o privire năstrușnică în ochi.
En: Andrei was bent over his table, a mischievous look in his eyes.
Ro: Deși nu era cel mai silitor elev, pasiunea lui pentru experimente era bine cunoscută.
En: Although he wasn't the most diligent student, his passion for experiments was well-known.
Ro: Astăzi voia să impresioneze.
En: Today, he wanted to impress.
Ro: Sorina, colega lui de bancă și, uneori, glasul rațiunii, îl privea plină de scepticism.

En: "Andrei, are you sure you know what you're doing?"

Ro: "Stai liniștită, Sorina!
En: "Relax, Sorina!
Ro: Am văzut asta într-un clip video.
En: I saw this in a video clip.
Ro: Va fi spectaculos," zâmbi el, convins de planul său.
En: It's going to be spectacular," he smiled, convinced of his plan.
Ro: Sorina oftă adânc.
En: Sorina sighed deeply.
Ro: Deși era tentată să-l ajute, prefera siguranța și regulile.
En: Although she was tempted to help him, she preferred safety and rules.
Ro: Totuși, curiozitatea începea să-i șoptească să riște.
En: Still, curiosity began to whisper to her to take a risk.
Ro: În timp ce profesorul lor, domnul Ionescu, era ocupat să explice o reacție simplă altor elevi, Andrei începu să amestece substanțele.
En: While their teacher, Mr. Ionescu, was busy explaining a simple reaction to other students, Andrei began to mix the substances.
Ro: Prima dată acid acetic, apoi un praf alb pe care nu era sigur că își amintește cum se numește.
En: First, acetic acid, then a white powder whose name he wasn’t sure he remembered.
Ro: "Andrei, cred că ar trebui să ne oprim," îngâna Sorina, fără prea multă convingere.
En: "Andrei, I think we should stop," Sorina murmured, without much conviction.
Ro: Dar era prea târziu.
En: But it was too late.
Ro: În timp ce câteva picături de lichid roșu curgeau din pipetă, reacția începu.
En: As a few drops of red liquid dripped from the pipette, the reaction began.
Ro: Gălbenușuri de spumă colorată începură să se înalțe din eprubetă, mai întâi încet, apoi cu viteză.
En: Yellowish foam began to rise from the test tube, slowly at first, then more swiftly.
Ro: Sorina își acoperi gura de uimire, iar Andrei rămase uimit.
En: Sorina covered her mouth in astonishment, and Andrei was left speechless.
