A 76-year-old man has been arrested after nearly 30 years as a fugitive, facing charges for two alleged armed bank robberies in New South Wales during the 1990s. Alexander Robert McDonald allegedly held a woman hostage during a shotgun robbery at a Coonabarabran bank in 1996, followed by a similar alleged robbery at a Laurieton bank on the Mid North Coast in 1997. He was arrested in Queensland on Monday, extradited to New South Wales, and denied bail during his court appearance via video link.
