New laws close domestic violence loophole

New laws close domestic violence loophole

Published 4 weeks ago
Description
New domestic violence legislation will close a legal loophole that previously prevented former partners still listed on a lease from being charged with break and enter offences when forcing their way back into a home. The loophole left victims, typically women who had ended relationships, vulnerable to former partners returning without facing criminal charges. State Attorney General Michael Daley says the legislation will provide victims with greater protection in their own homes.
