Meditation Anywhere: Using the Senses to Find Presence

Episode 79 Published 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Description

In this meditation, I guide you into a way of practising that you can carry into any part of your day.

One of the great strengths of meditation is that, over time, it becomes something we can do anywhere. In the car, between meetings, sitting at your desk, or moving through a busy environment. This practice shows you how.

We begin by becoming aware of the breath, and then gently expand our attention to the body and the senses. You are invited to notice touch, the feeling of your clothes, the temperature of your hands, and the points of contact with the world around you.

From there, we move through the senses of taste and smell, before opening to sound, both distant and near, and finally to the subtle sound of your own breath. Sight becomes another doorway, allowing you to take in the world as it is, without needing to change it.

Each sense becomes a doorway back into the present moment, allowing you to stay connected to awareness not just in stillness, but in the middle of daily life.

By the end of the practice, you are invited to choose one sense to return to throughout your day, using it as a simple, steady anchor, wherever you are.

This meditation offers a moment of calm, whether you are pausing during the day or winding down before sleep, helping you reconnect with the present moment through the body and the senses.
