Australia signs $10 billion free trade deal with EU

Published 4 weeks, 1 day ago
Description
Australia and the European Union have signed a $10 billion per year free trade agreement after eight years of negotiations. The deal provides Australian exporters access to 450 million European consumers, with tariff-free wine and seafood exports, while allowing beef exports of 35,000 tonnes and sheep meat exports of 31,000 tonnes at full implementation. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed federal parliament and signed both the trade pact and a defence agreement with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, though Australian farmers have expressed disappointment with the export quotas.
