Sydney moves closer to 24-hour CBD trading
Published 4 weeks, 1 day ago
Description
Sydney City Council has approved a planning proposal that would allow all businesses in the CBD to apply for 24-hour trading, from Circular Quay and The Rocks to Barangaroo and Broadway. The move aims to revive the city's nightlife following lockout laws and COVID lockdowns, with extended hours predicted to boost the night-time economy by $6 billion. The proposal still requires state government approval before businesses including pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, hairdressers and retailers can operate around the clock.
