Description
Hey folks, this is Artificial Lure, your go-to guy for SoCal fishing, comin' at ya from the LA waterfront on this fine Monday mornin', March 23rd. Tides today in LA outer harbor got a high at midnight hittin' 5.7 feet, low at 7:36am droppin' to -0.18 feet, then high at 2:09pm around 2.82 feet, and low again at 6:05pm at 2.15 feet—perfect for workin' the incoming moves later. Sunrise was at 6:53am, sunset 7:06pm, givin' ya a solid 12 hours of light. Weather's mild, light winds from the west, temps in the low 60s risin' to mid-70s—prime spring conditions.

Fish are bitin' steady after yesterday's party boat hauls. Sportfishing Report tallies show sculpin dominatin' with hundreds landed: New Del Mar out of Marina del Rey boated 404 plus sand bass and calicos on a 3/4-day trip. Freelance from 22nd Street Landing nabbed 181 sculpin and whitefish. Pursuit and Sport King mixed in barracuda, sheephead, blue perch, and calico bass—26 calicos for Pursuit alone. Redondo Special released boatloads of calicos too. Whitefish, sheephead, and sand bass everywhere from Victory and Native Sun. Halibut showed up on Spitfire and Native Sun. Activity's high per solunar charts—hit major feeds around 4-6pm.

For lures, go swimbaits or jerkbaits in green or sardine patterns for calicos and bass; drop-shot rigs with plastic worms crush sculpin. Live bait? Sardines or anchovies on the hook for whitefish and sheephead—berley up with ground menhaden. Plastics like Big Hammer grubs on football jigs for bottoms.

Hot spots: 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro for mixed bags, and Marina del Rey for sculpin and halibut action—launch early!
