Description
SHERLOCK HOLMES: DR. WATSON'S MEMOIRS — THE READING ANGEL MAKER Featuring the Baker Street Irregulars

These notes are written in your established 1001 style: clear, compelling, historically grounded, and respectful of the darker subject matter. They also connect naturally to the ongoing Dr. Watson's Memoirs series.

⭐ SHOW NOTES SHERLOCK HOLMES: DR. WATSON'S MEMOIRS — THE READING ANGEL MAKER Featuring Tom and Will of the Baker Street Irregulars

Victorian England was a world of contrasts—great wealth beside crushing poverty, glittering progress beside grim neglect. And in the overcrowded slums of London and Reading, one of the era's darkest secrets flourished in the shadows: baby farming. With almost no laws to protect infants, desperate young mothers were often persuaded to hand their babies to strangers who promised a "good home" in exchange for a small fee… and then vanished.

When the bodies of infants begin turning up in the Thames, Scotland Yard finds itself overwhelmed. The press is circling, Parliament is restless, and the public is terrified. Quietly—and unofficially—the Yard turns to the one man who has solved the unsolvable before: Mr. Sherlock Holmes.

But the narrow alleys and crowded tenements of Reading are no place for a tall, well‑dressed detective. Holmes needs eyes and ears that can move unnoticed, ask questions freely, and slip through places no constable could go. And so he calls upon two of his most trusted Baker Street Irregulars: Tom, sharp‑witted and steady, and his younger brother Will, eager, brave, and far too fearless for his own good.

What begins as simple reconnaissance soon becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse. The boys uncover a woman whose reputation sends a chill through the neighborhood—an "angel maker" whose promises of care hide something far more sinister. And when young Will gets too close, the case takes a turn that shakes even Holmes himself.

This is an original Sherlock Holmes adventure, written exclusively for the 1001 Stories Network and presented in the intimate voice of Dr. John H. Watson. It stands alongside our earlier entries in the Dr. Watson's Memoirs series, including:

  • #1 — The Wild West Show Affair

  • #2 — The Mortal Terror of Old Abrahams

  • #3 — The Westminster Terror

  • #4 — The Reading Angel Maker (this episode)

Each story is crafted to feel like a long‑lost case file—sealed for decades, then finally released for the public to hear.
