Cyclone Narelle makes landfall in far north Queensland

Description
Tropical Cyclone Narelle has made landfall approximately 50 kilometres north of Coen in far north Queensland as a Category 4 system at 7am Queensland time. The cyclone has brought down trees, caused storm surge erosion in Cairns' northern beaches, and prompted evacuations to emergency shelters in Coen, a remote community of about 400 residents. Emergency alerts have been issued for towns including Aurukun and Weipa as the system continues tracking across Cape York Peninsula.
