Ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, Naoimh welcomes her friend Siobhan to share a beautiful initiative she began four years ago in Co. Down: gathering at dawn on 17th March to pray a hundred Our Fathers, interspersed with scripture and extracts from St. Patrick’s Breastplate. What started as a small group at St. Patrick’s grave in Downpatrick has since spread across Ireland and beyond, with gatherings springing up in England, Tanzania, and as far as Portugal and the United States. Siobhan reflects on the ecumenical spirit of the gathering, the intention of peace and unity in Christ that lies at its heart, and the sense that Ireland is being called to arise — just as Patrick himself arose in the cold and darkness to pray. The programme closes with The Deer’s Cry.
