Broadcasting live from the Asylum, I kicked off the show with a quick update: our first-hour guest was a no-show, so longtime friend of the show Wayne “Mister W” Rankin jumped in early for a wide-ranging, unfiltered conversation.

 We covered Wayne’s life on his Washington State mountain homestead—yes, including his very real chicken-plucking rig, year‑round egg production, bartering for elk, DIY know-how, and survivalist humor—and then dug into heavier topics: ballooning taxes and fees in Washington, pension and legal frustrations post–postal service, the blue-state exodus, and the personal calculus many families face to beat punitive tax brackets.

From there, we pivoted to national and geopolitical currents, weighing mixed feelings about U.S. strategy on Iran, the cost of undeclared forever-wars, and the importance of clearly stated objectives—while keeping the main thing the main thing: faith, encouragement, and prayer for our leaders and troops.

We wrapped with Wayne’s trademark grit and wisdom: leave well enough alone and don’t manufacture your own problems—and keep your sense of humor intact while you prep the farm for spring.
