Mustang's DTM Underdog Story

Published 2 weeks ago
Description

Gerd Ruch and his brother transformed a budget-friendly Ford Mustang into a beloved underdog in the DTM racing series from 1988 to 1994. Despite facing factory teams from BMW and Mercedes, their American muscle car, with its roaring V-8 engine and flames from the exhaust, captured fans hearts. Despite scoring just four points and one tenth-place finish in 95 races, the Mustangs raw straight-line speed and the brothers determination kept them going. The cars cult status grew from its hopeless battles and sleepless nights fixing it trackside. However, as DTM shifted to high-tech Class One rules, the old-school Mustang couldnt compete, ending their run by 1995. Today, the legend lives on, reminding everyone of grit over tech.
