Council Calls On Government To Introduce Cost Of Disability Payment
Published 1 month ago
Description
Clare County Council is calling on the Government to introduce a cost of disability payment. The local authority is set to write to the Department of Social Protection seeking the implementation of the measure following a motion put forward at this month's meeting of the county's local elected representatives. The department is currently running a public consultation on the cost of disability while in 2021, a report estimated the additional annual costs for people with disabilities ranged from €8,700 to over €12,300. Clarecastle Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Guilfoyle says the cost of living affects this community more acutely than anyone else.
