Will Wade Was NC State's Biggest Critic | Marcus Ginyard on UNC hoops | Canes Check-in | 03.18

Episode 715 Published 1 month ago
Description

Will Wade didn't sugarcoat it. His first roster in Raleigh was — in his own words — the worst team Wolfpack fans will see going forward. It's a remarkable thing for a head coach to say publicly about his own program. The question Ovies & Giglio are asking is whether Wade's year one education in the ACC was enough to produce the changes that actually matter — players who genuinely fit the system he wants to run rather than players a spreadsheet recommended because the numbers looked right in a vacuum.

Then it's UNC's turn — and a voice worth hearing joins the conversation. Marcus Ginyard, member of the 2009 National Championship team, comes on to discuss the current state of Tar Heels basketball and what Caleb Wilson's presence meant for this program beyond the box score. Ginyard brings the championship perspective and the honest assessment of where UNC stands heading into their NCAA Tournament opener. Can the Tar Heels get to the Sweet 16? Ovies & Giglio think it's there for them — but only if they play a certain way.

Mike Maniscalco joins the show to cover the Carolina Hurricanes entering one of the most demanding stretches of hockey on their schedule. The brutal run started last night in Columbus — and the priority heading into it is singular and non-negotiable. Get to the postseason healthy. Everything else is secondary.
