Alcantara Pitches, Marlins Players Return

Published 1 week, 6 days ago
Description

Sandy Alcantara, the Marlins top pitcher, returned to spring training after skipping the World Baseball Classic final. He pitched well against the Mets, striking out five and allowing two runs. Most Marlins players from the Classic are back, except Javier Sanoja. Catcher Agustín Ramírez and outfielder Owen Caissie rejoined the team, both performing well in the tournament. Alcantara is set for his sixth Opening Day start, while Ramírez and Caissie are ready to contribute. Pitcher Max Meyer took a hamstring hit but will pitch in a minor league game. Left-hander Braxton Garrett will start Wednesday as he builds back from Tommy John surgery. Infielder Connor Norby will try the outfield on Friday.
