Description
Episode Overview
Many people begin trauma recovery with one simple goal. They want the pain to stop and the patterns to change. However, as recovery progresses, many people discover something deeper. Their story begins with helping others find hope.
In this episode, Coach Liz explores how trauma recovery often moves beyond personal recovery and becomes an assignment to help others find freedom. The experiences that once caused pain can produce wisdom, compassion, and understanding that guide others who are walking through similar struggles.
In This Episode You Will Learn
• Why trauma recovery often becomes a calling to serve others
• The three stages of trauma recovery: Awareness, Application, and Purpose
• Why many people stop at healing and never step into their assignment
• How to recognize who you may be called to help
• How trauma recovery mentors can guide others safely and responsibly
Trauma recovery often unfolds in three important stages.
Stage One: Awareness
Stage Two: Application
Stage Three: Purpose
Finding Your Assignment
Many people ask how they discover their calling after trauma recovery.
Often the answer is already hidden within their story.
You may notice that people come to you with certain questions. Others may seek your support because they recognize that you understand their experiences.
Your assignment may be connected to:
• The people you naturally feel drawn to help
• The parts of your story others ask about most often
• The patterns that God helped you overcome
• The hope your story can provide to someone else
Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that we comfort others with the comfort we have received.
Pathway Professional Mentor Association
For those who feel called to guide others in trauma recovery, the Pathway Professional Mentor Association (PPMA) provides a certification pathway for trauma recovery mentors, coaches, and peer support leaders.
PPMA focuses on teaching leaders how to serve responsibly while honoring emotional safety, ethical boundaries, and spiritual leadership.
During the certification program, students complete two foundational courses:
• Level 1 – Pathways to Get Trauma-Informed
• Level 2 – Trauma Recovery: One Breath at a Time
These courses help participants build the foundation needed to guide others safely and responsibly.
