The idea that a team has to intentionally tank to fall in the standings just isn’t always reality—especially for the St. Louis Blues. Sometimes, a mix of injuries, inconsistent goaltending, and lineup decisions naturally leads to losses without any deliberate effort to lose games. The Blues are in a phase where development, evaluation, and long-term planning are just as important as the final score. Young players are getting opportunities, and growing pains are part of that process. That doesn’t mean the team isn’t competing—it just means the results don’t always follow. In the end, what looks like “tanking” from the outside can really just be a team navigating a transition period the only way it can.
