Reforming justice or protecting power? The abolition of jury trials in Britain
Published 5 days, 17 hours ago
Description
As imperialism struggles to hide its dictatorial and exploitative character, increasingly repressive measures are being introduced.
Following the summer riots of 2011, the justice system faced an enormous backlog. With Keir Starmer as director of public prosecutions (DPP), 24-hour court sittings were introduced, clearing thousands of cases in weeks. Clearly, if the ruling class wants to clear a backlog it knows very well how to do so.
