What a strange afternoon for the Blades at St Andrew’s. It looked like it was going to be one of those evenings for Sheffield United. Femi Seriki saw red in the first half, Birmingham immediately took the lead, and when the Blades missed a penalty it really felt like the night was slipping away. But this United side showed some serious character. Pat Bamford levelled the scores to get the Blades right back into it, and despite being down to ten men, United battled brilliantly to earn a hard-fought point away from home. A big talking point came when United switched back to a three-at-the-back system to see the game out — a familiar shape for the Blades that seemed to give the team a bit more control and resilience.
