Published 2 months ago
Description

The Montreal Canadiens have signed University of Minnesota defenseman Luke Mittelstadt to a two-year entry-level contract, adding to their defensive prospect pool. Mittelstadt, younger brother of Boston Bruins forward Casey Mittelstadt, had a strong college career with the Gophers, leading all team defensemen in goals, assists, and points this season. Drafted by the Habs in the seventh round in 2023, Mittelstadt earned bronze with Team USA at the World Juniors. He will report to the Laval Rocket in the AHL for the rest of the 2025-2026 season. The Rocket currently leads the North Division, while the Canadiens hold third in the Atlantic Division and aim for another Stanley Cup playoff run.
