Man Jailed for Life for Ex-Wife's Murder

Published 3 weeks ago
Description

42-year-old Alireza Askari, from Cardiff, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 26 years for murdering his ex-wife, Paria Veisi, and burying her body in their backyard garden. The couple had moved to the UK from Iran in 2010 and married, but Veisi had recently left Askari and moved out. He stabbed her four times in the chest and neck using knives he bought from a supermarket and then tried to cover his tracks by purchasing bleach, compost, and more plants. Veisis friends grew worried when she went missing and alerted police, who launched a search. Her body turned up during a raid on the house, and Askari was arrested on the road with chemicals meant to dissolve her remains. Askaris aunt, Maryam Delavary, was also sentenced to five years and six months for perverting justice.
