This week I'm chatting with Caroline McGuire from Caroline's Kitchen! Caroline is an 18-year-old high school student in L.A, headed off to college on the East Coast very soon! She regularly creates a ton of delicious, healthy recipes and shares them on her website to help make healthy eating, and living, approachable for everyone. In this episode, we chat about the social media platforms that high school students use most regularly and how it affects their lives. Caroline shares how she finds the balance between being in high school, working on her blog, spending time with family and friends, and keeping up with all of her other extracurricular activities. She also talks about what it's like applying to college and how she's feeling now that applications are over. We discuss what high school girls consider to be "healthy," why people feel the need to label the way they eat, and what true health actually is. We talk about the difficulty of sorting through all of the confusing health information out there and what Caroline's approach to healthy eating is. We also talk about the differences between Instagram and real life, the normalization of disordered eating in our society, and the trends girls in high school are following. We talk about the difference between testing the boundaries as a teen and being too extreme, the responsibility of influencers to be honest with their audience, and what older generations of women can do to help younger generations.
