122: Cristina Curp on Healing an Autoimmune Disease with Keto-Paleo



This week I'm chatting with Cristina Curp, creator of The Castaway Kitchenblog and author of Made Whole: More Than 145 Anti-Inflammatory Keto-Paleo Recipes to Nourish You from the Inside Out! Cristina is a recipe developer, author, military spouse, and dedicated mother who used nourishing food to overcome an autoimmune disease and leaky gut.

In this episode, Cristina shares more about her battle with hidradenitis suppurativa, a rare autoimmune disease that creates a painful skin condition. She talks about how her skin condition affected her self-confidence and relationships growing up, and what she wishes she knew when she was younger. Cristina talks about finding the autoimmune protocol and the paleo diet to help heal herself, and how eventually she transitioned fully to the ketogenic diet as a path to healing. Cristina discusses how her relationship with fitness has changed over the years and the benefits of lifting heavy weights. We also discuss protein on keto, total versus net carbs, and adjusting macronutrients based on your body. Cristina shares her favorite quick and easy meals, her response to excuses for eating healthy, and some of her favorite meals from her new book. We also discuss the importance of self-care for healing, as well as her thoughts about people on social media.
