A Prayer for Better Questions

Loving God,

You know how quickly our minds search for explanations

when something painful happens.

We want to understand.

We want the world to feel orderly and fair.

So we look for someone to blame.

Forgive us for the moments

when our questions close our hearts

instead of opening them.

Teach us to ask better questions.

When we encounter suffering,

help us move beyond judgment.

Give us eyes that see the need before us,

hearts that are stirred by compassion,

and hands ready to serve.

And when the answers are not clear,

guide us toward the questions

that lead us closer to love

and closer to the work of healing in this world.

Amen.
