Ep 436 | Dystopian Storytelling, Building Complex Characters, and Balancing Chaos with Creativity
Description
LIVE: Drinking With Authors | Featuring Andy T. Hanson 🚀📚🍹
From Abrams tanks to dystopian worlds, Andy T. Hanson brings big energy, bold stories, and a Rocket Pop Twisted Tea to this live episode of Drinking With Authors!
Andy is the author of The Despot Chronicles, a gripping sci-fi dystopian series that kicks off with Calamity. Before diving into novels, Andy lived many lives—as a U.S. Army tank driver, a regional stage actor, a playwright (Molly’s Chamber), and a screenwriter (Paradise Valley, an LA Film Fest quarterfinalist). Now, he channels that wide-ranging experience into stories filled with rich characters, gray morality, and unpredictable worlds.
📍 Based in Bay City, Michigan, Andy somehow juggles writing with sports fanaticism (Go Lions!), family life, grilling sessions, golf, and a lifelong love of genre fiction, from Stephen King to Michael Crichton to Maya Angelou.
In this episode, we’ll talk about dystopian storytelling, building complex characters, balancing chaos and creativity, and why some stories practically write themselves—if you just stay present at the keyboard.
