Fr. Peter begins a new Lenten series on the precious blood of Jesus, guided by the mystical theology of St. Bonaventure. He introduces the seven occasions on which Christ shed his blood, before turning to the first: Christ’s circumcision, eight days after his birth. Drawing on scripture, St. Augustine, and St. Thomas Aquinas, Fr. Peter makes the striking case that Christ’s suffering began not on Good Friday but at the moment of the Incarnation itself, and that even one drop of his blood was sufficient to save the world.
