The Cottonwood Fire Department has received notice from the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) that they will be conducting prescribed fire work in the area. On March 10, 2026, there will be a 25-acre pile burn at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. The burn is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and should last approximately 6 hours. The park will remain open to guests during the operations. The purpose of the project work is to reintroduce fire into the ecosystem and reduce fuel loading to protect park assets, nearby residents, park visitors, and safeguard any other infrastructure...
