Description
It's been called a major milestone in Australia's bid to protect children online.
From today, sweeping new online safety codes take effect; forcing platforms - from search engines to social media apps, video games and even AI chatbots - to introduce stronger safeguards and age checks around pornography, violence and other harmful content.
Companies that fail to comply could be hit with penalties of up to $49.5 million per breach.
