LOUIS LEO HOLTZ, 1937-2026https://holtzsheroes.org/Louis Leo Holtz, the coach who helped define modern NC State football and whose influence stretched across college athletics for more than half a century, died leaving behind a legacy rooted deeply in Raleigh and woven throughout the fabric of the game.Holtz served as head football coach at North Carolina State University from 1972 to 1975, a brief but transformative tenure that remains one of the most celebrated eras in Wolfpack history. When he arrived in Raleigh, NC State football was searching for direction.
