This C8-X Concept Turns the Corvette Into a Hypercar

Published 21 hours ago
Description

The Chevrolet Corvette has always been one of America’s most iconic sports cars, but many enthusiasts believe the current C8 generation has already crossed the line to full-blown supercar. Digital designer Khyzyl Saleem, better known online as the_kyza, wondered what would happen if that evolution continued. His digital concept, called the C8-X, takes inspiration from the CX and CX.R Gran Turismo concepts to conceive the wildest Corvette yet. While no prototype details have been shared, we assume it will sit above the lightning-quick ZR1X in the Corvette hierarchy.

The C8-X follows a similar philosophy to the Ford Mustang GTD: take a proven American icon and dial everything up so it punches far above its usual class. Saleem’s version makes the Corvette’s stance wider and lower, with equally as dramatic aero, and plenty of exposed carbon fiber. The headlights are now two tiny bulbs mounted at the bottom of the front bumpers, and the thinner LED strokes serve as DRLs. The rear lights have been squashed thinner, resembling those of a pre-facelift sixth-gen Camaro. Judging by online reactions, many fans feel the concept addresses some of the styling criticisms aimed at the current C8. Despite the changes, it still clearly reads as a Corvette, just one that feels closer in spirit to exotic hypercars like the Ferrari 296.
