On February 19, near Valle Verde Drive and Windmill Parkway, officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A woman reported her ex-boyfriend holding her against her will and threatening her life. As she fled toward officers, 44-year-old Fabian Leon chased her with a knife, ignored commands to drop it, and pointed an L-shaped metal object resembling a handgun at her. Four officers fired 24 rounds, killing Leon at the scene. Officers recovered a kitchen knife and the metal object; no gun was found. The incident is under investigation; involved officers are on paid administrative leave, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal and News 3 LV.
