Breakfast Wrap: Is the war in Iran legal?

Breakfast Wrap: Is the war in Iran legal?

Published 2 weeks, 1 day ago
Description

The British PM Keir Starmer has defended Britain's non-involvement in the strikes on Iran, by pointing to needing a sound legal basis for doing so. The question whether the joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran are legal under international law has been side-stepped by Australian political leaders.

Much of the international legal community questions the American argument that it was done pre-emptively, to defend against any potential Iranian aggression.

Onthe Breakfast Wrap we hear from an international legal scholar, the former British Ambassador to Iran and the Australian government.

Then, a few days into this conflict, Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert shares her shock at the start of hostilities and the death of the Ayatollah.

Recap the morning's news, politics and global affairs with the Breakfast Wrap.
