In this open-mic episode, I welcomed Survival Steve and Patrick from the USA, plus a surprise drop-in from Canadian guest Monica Schaefer and later Paul English, for a frank, civil and deeply personal conversation about war, morality and power. I shared why I’ve been a pacifist since childhood—rooted in my parents’ shell shock and my father’s harrowing World War II survival—and set the tone to discuss war beyond headlines, focusing on the human cost, conscience, and the psychological toll across generations.

We debated whether wars are driven by “demonic psychopaths” or immoral systems, explored natural law, moral relativism, conscientious objection, order-following versus responsibility, and the blurred line between violence and self-defence. We touched on propaganda, fear, government overreach, the role of media, and how to pursue solutions: education in morality, unity with respect for cultural differences, and practical community action. The audience kept the chat lively and polite, and we closed by inviting listeners to join tomorrow’s solutions-focused session and open lines.
