Exodus 20 // Brooks Nesse

In this teaching on Exodus 20, we look at the heart of the biblical law and the significance of the Ten Commandments. The sermon breaks down the two sections of the tablets: the first focusing on our devotion to God—prohibiting idols and honoring his name—and the second focusing on our conduct toward our neighbors. We discuss the awe-inspiring atmosphere of the mountain, the thunder and lightning that accompanied his voice, and the role of Moses as a mediator. This sermon invites us to see these commandments as a reflection of his holy character and a roadmap for a life of justice and peace.
