One farmer in France would have an extremely close encounter with two aliens that would use a strange device to paralyze him. They would escape into an odd egg shaped craft before flying off into the sky. But many separate investigators would find that the craft left visible impressions behind, killed all the lavender plants around it, and left the soil altered in bizarre ways.
