That's the warning from Labor MP Julian Hill, as the federal government moves to mend fraying social cohesion in the wake of the Bondi terror attack.
In a speech to the McKell Institute yesterday, the Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs also said there's been an overemphasis on identity politics.
