A Prayer for the Courage to Begin

Faithful God,

You call us forward

even when we cannot see the whole path.

You invite us to move

before we have all the answers.

And if we are honest,

we prefer clarity.

We prefer guarantees.

We prefer comfort.

Give us the courage to trust You

when the future is not fully visible.

Help us release what has always felt comfortable

when it is no longer where we are meant to remain.

Guard our hearts from pride —

as if leaving makes us better than those who stay.

Guard us from fear —

as if staying is always safer than going.

Teach us to recognize Your voice.

Teach us to discern Your call.

Teach us to begin.

Like Abram and Sarai,

help us trust enough

to take the first step.

And when the road feels uncertain,

remind us that Your promise

is greater than our understanding.

We place our future in Your hands.

Amen.
