Episode 82 Published 1 month ago
Description

On July 4th 1817, the construction began on the Erie Canal, a man made waterway that stretched 363 miles from the Hudson River in Albany NY to Lake Erie in Buffalo NY. Thomas Jefferson called it madness and yet if it wasn’t for one man, DeWitt Clinton, the eastern US would have not been connected by water to the new lands to the west. They called it DeWitt’s Ditch, but if this canal wasn't built would NYC become the commerce capital of the world that it is today? OK - Let’s Learn about DeWitt Clinton and the Erie Canal.
