Newsom told an Atlanta audience that he was like them, and no better than them because he was a “960 SAT guy…. You’ve never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech.” Several people have strong reactions to Newsom’s comments, including Nicki Minaj, who said his way of bonding with black people “is to tell them how stupid he is & he can’t read.””
