Police investigating the mistaken abduction of a Sydney grandfather say human remains have been found at a golf course on the north-west fringe of the city.

Chris Baghsarian, who's 85, was taken from his North Ryde home by kidnappers 11 days ago.

Police suspect his abductors mixed him up with someone from a Sydney crime family living nearby.

Police and his family have been holding serious fears for his welfare given he requires daily medication.
