Description

Former UK ambassador to the US Lord Peter Mandelson has been arrested over his links to the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

He's facing allegations he shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein while he was a cabinet minister.

Last year, Lord Mandelson was sacked from his job after emails in the Epstein files revealed the extent of his friendship with the paedophile.Lord Mandelson's arrest comes four days after the former Prince Andrew was arrested on similar allegations.

That's prompted Anthony Albanese to let the UK know Australia will agree to any proposal to remove the former Prince, now just known as Andrew, from the line of succession.

Given Australia has the King as the head of state, the government here needs to pass laws, along with the UK, to make such a thing happen.

King Charles stripped Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of his titles last year over his ties to Epstein.

Severe weather warnings are in force for large parts of the country today, including the threat of flash flooding from north Queensland down to Victoria, including Melbourne.

A slow-moving weather system is drenching areas of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and the NT.

It's causing havoc for the movement of goods by knocking out key rail and road links.
