Mariners' Diaz Joins World Baseball Classic

Jhonathan Diaz, a left-handed pitcher for the Seattle Mariners, will represent Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, replacing injured ace Pablo Lopez. Diaz, who has a 4.09 ERA in six appearances for the Mariners, joins Eduard Bazardo as the second Mariner in the tournament. The event, starting March 5th, features several Seattle players, including Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez, Randy Arozarena, and Andres Munoz. Diaz, who hasnt pitched in spring training yet, threw a solid bullpen session Friday. Meanwhile, prospect Kade Anderson impressed in a live bullpen, striking out Julio Rodriguez, Mitch Garver, and Rob Refsnyder.
